The closest homes to the sinkhole are in the worst condition. The wood is twisted and one home is nearly completely squashed beneath a fallen tree. They're somewhat creepy and plenty of more dangerous animals like snakes like to live here. Those visiting should watch their step.

The collapsing buildings looked grotesque, like straining faces that had been warped by the elements beating down on them day after day, sitting underneath the shade of a fruit tree that without humans' careful care had grown spindly and overfilled with fruit that the birds and other animals were helping themselves to. It provided Melissa with a cool place to sit and watch, studying each house and likening them to something, the faces looked like the houses were being tortured, silent screams and moans came from each place in the form of creaking groans as the gentle wind and hot summer sun worked their wonders on the old decaying wood. However the buildings soon lost their appeal and her attention turned to Julian, she hadn't seen him since she'd decided to join the pack and in all honesty she was quite worried about him, which was an emotion she wasn't used to feeling but thankfully she looked enough like a dog that she'd been accepted into the pack with little problem. That hadn't made the separation any easier, looking away from the buildings and into the distance with a quiet sigh, her ears lowered revealing some of her emotions even if her features did not.
